hi, parEnts.
If you’re here, you’re probably worried about your teen — even if they won’t admit anything’s wrong.
Maybe they’ve been more shut down.
Or more reactive.
Or more “I’m fine, just tired” when it’s very obviously not fine.
You’ve tried giving them space, being patient, checking in, and gently (or not so gently) nudging them toward help. And now you’re looking for a therapist who gets it and will get them.
I specialize in working with teens and young adults who are sensitive, smart, and emotionally overwhelmed. Many of the teens I work with are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, identity, body image, disordered eating, or substance use — often while appearing “fine” on the outside.
Some shut down. Some act out. Some make jokes out of everything. All of it makes sense once we start to understand what’s underneath.
I build real relationships with my teen clients — the kind that allow for depth, trust, and actual change. I meet them where they are, stay curious, and ask the questions that help them see themselves more clearly. We talk about the hard stuff without making it harder than it needs to be.
If you’re looking for a therapist who can connect with your teen and hold the clinical work with care, I’d love to connect. I offer free 15-minute consults and am always open to collaborating with families, schools, and programs.
how i include parEnts (and how i don’t)
Therapy with teens works best when we’re all on the same team — even when we’re not always in the same room.
Here’s how I include parents in the process:
I offer an optional check-in at the start of therapy to hear your concerns and get some background.
I’ll let you know if there’s ever a safety concern or something that needs your immediate attention.
I can provide general updates (with your teen’s consent) and help translate the “therapy stuff” into real-world parenting support when it’s helpful.
If we’re doing family therapy, I’ll support both you and your teen in building clarity, boundaries, and better communication.
Here’s what I don’t do:
I don’t share what your teen says in session without their consent — unless it’s a safety issue.
I don’t try to “fix” your teen to make things easier at home.
I don’t take sides — I help make space for both of your experiences to exist without blame.
I know how hard it is to watch your teen struggle. And I also know that real healing happens when they feel safe, respected, and trusted — both in therapy and at home.
If you have questions about the process or want to talk more about what therapy could look like for your family, I’m happy to connect.
